The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit word yuj, which can be translated into “yoking” or “union.” With a multitude of different styles and practices out there today, yoga is possible for every body.
I’ve been teaching Yoga since 2015 after receiving my YTT Certification in Phoenix, AZ. Because I injured myself for the first time practicing yoga, this allowed me to focus on restorative yoga and mindfulness.
In the summer of 2016, I joined the Arizona Prison Yoga Project and dove into the science and benefits within the practice and began teaching the 8 limbs of yoga to both adult and juvenile inmates.
I‘ve seen first hand in my personal life and with my yogi students the radical transformation and benefits Yoga provides. Yes, the physical side does make the body stronger and more flexible but the magic is in the breathe work. Peace of mind, clarity and sharper focus, healing of back and body pain, renewed sense of self, increase of gratitude and appreciation, body toning, friend connecting, and much more.
